I have been providing psychiatric evaluation, psychotropic mediation management and short-term therapy services since 2007 when I received my Masters of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Vermont and became a board certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Areas of particular interest include mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment to illness, and postpartum depression.
It is my strong belief that psychiatric medication decisions are best made when you feel you understand the benefits and risks of the medication being considered, and that they be made in the context of your overall health. I often work collaboratively with primary care providers, therapists or other specialty providers to ensure that all members of your healthcare team are consulted when appropriate, and always with your permission, about your care.
I believe it is important to approach each person holistically, that is to say to consider not only your mental health, but also your physical and spiritual health as well. Medications are often a necessary and helpful part of helping you to feel better, but they are only a component in your overall wellbeing which is why I will also want to learn from you about how you feed your body and soul, how you rest and play, how your work and family lives impact you, and how what you feel is important to your physical and mental health can be part of any plan we create together.
