Psychotherapist | Ayurvedic Consultant | Yoga Teacher

Carmen Maron Walker, M.A., NCCMy psychotherapy practice includes working with adults, young adults, and families on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma, personal development, and stress management. I believe that my main role as a therapist is to create a safe place to creatively explore and support my clients’ needs.

My work is grounded in the belief that people are best able to make changes when they feel supported, safe, and understood. As a mental health counselor, I take an eclectictherapeutic approach, which integrates a systemic, developmental, strength-based, and relational perspective. I am passionate about the value of mindfulness in my daily life, and have experience facilitating both individuals and groups using mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to address depression and anxiety. I hold a master’s degree from Antioch University New England.

Along with being a psychotherapist, I am also an Ayurvedic consultant. Ayurveda is an alternative medical system that originates from India, which treats using food as medicine, daily routine, and herbal formulas. I have been successful working with clients in addressing a variety of physical and mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, weight management, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders, and autoimmune disorders. I am a graduate of The Ayurvedic Institute, where I had the opportunity to study for two years with Dr. Vasant Lad, a world-renowned Ayurvedic physician. In 2003, I completed an Ayurvedic apprenticeship, which provided specialized clinical training in Ayurvedic cooking, herbal remedies, and lifestyle management. In my practice, I offer the additional option of integrating mental health counseling and Ayurveda. In this way, I enjoy providing alternative mental health counseling, which compliments traditional talk therapy by working with the whole person: the body, mind, and spirit. My continued curiosity and passion for combining mental health counseling with Ayurveda revolves around the ways these two paradigms compliment each other by providing tangible tools for maintaining a greater sense of balance.

As a resident of Vermont for over 15 years, I enjoy being outside, staying active, and being involved in the community with my husband and daughter.
